Los Angeles Hospice Care
At Illuminate Hospice, we treat our patients with a whole body and mind philosophy. Serious and end-of-life illnesses have far-reaching effects in even the strongest of people’s lives, and this phase in life can affect patients beyond just physically. While we’re located on the West Coast in Los Angeles, Illuminate Hospice embodies the Californian zeal for discovery and care beyond the physical. Our quality and compassionate care epitomizes the body and spiritual connection through a thoughtful offering of services to our patients.
Alongside pain management and physical therapy, we’re here to provide alternative care in the form of Chaplain services as well as bereavement counseling. We know emotional and spiritual matters can be profoundly challenging at this stage in our patients’ lives. In fact, treating the stress and depression that often comes with this intimate life stage has been shown to lengthen patients’ lives as well as improve quality of life and overall comfort.
When considering hospice, Los Angeles county is the ideal location for a peaceful transition into the end of your or your loved one’s life.
Palliative Care
Anyone suffering from a serious illness knows that living with pain and discomfort can become unbearable over time. Palliative Care, which Hospice Care is a form of, exists to ease symptoms while providing curative treatment. Palliative care helps improve a person’s quality of life if they’ve been diagnosed with a serious illness, whether terminal or not. Patients can start palliative care as soon as they’re diagnosed.
Our palliative care is designed to relieve stress, as well as physical pain and discomfort. Serious illnesses and diseases disrupt our mental health, home life, and careers. At Illuminate Hospice, we take a well-rounded approach to treatment. A palliative care team might include nutritionists, chaplains and/or social workers, working alongside a patient’s medical care providers.
Illuminate Hospice LA is here to enhance the lives of every patient and family member in our care while making sure your treatment plan meets your goals.
Palliative Care or Hospice Care?
Our hospice and palliative care address serious illness with a heightened awareness towards the mind and body connection.
Like hospice care, palliative care serves the multifaceted needs of patients living with a serious illness. From pain management and sleeping difficulties, to support groups and counseling, our palliative care team has extensive experience in symptoms management and supportive care. Unlike hospice care, palliative Care can begin right at the diagnosis of a serious illness and works in tandem with a treatment plan. Over time, palliative care may transition into hospice care if the diagnosed patient has a prognosis of 6 months or less to live, though palliative care isn’t dependent on the prognosis of the illness, unlike hospice care. We treat all of our patients with dignity and compassion, whether they’re suffering from a serious or terminal illness.
When it comes to choosing the right kind of care, Illuminate Hospice is here to help you make the right decision for you or your loved one.
Comfort care should be part of our decision making long before it is needed. Sometimes, that does not happen and comfort care can be initiated at any time with the consent of the patient and a provider. For the best outcome, plan now for comfort care and then adjust those plans accordingly to everyone’s needs.
